Young People in NSW Libraries Working Group
This is a state-wide working group of the NSW Public Libraries Association. This working group addresses library services to young people across a range of age brackets [early childhood / children / teenagers / young adults].
The Young People In NSW Public Libraries Working Group has conducted a survey to find out how they can improve the Working Group activities to meet the needs of library staff and also to involve more people in the group.
Summary Results of Survey June 2015
Over 60% of respondents were from country public libraries
The most popular location for events is the State Library (easy to get to)
50% wanted 2 events per year and favoured workshops and seminars over conferences and general meetings
The top 3 topics that people were interested in were: Planning & leading programs; Community outreach/partnerships & collaboration; Technology & social media
Over 60% of respondents had not attended a working group event in the last 12 months BUT
95% said they were interested in attending events organised by the working group
And the best news for the Working Group was that 8 respondents said they were interested in joining the group.
A big thank you to everyone who did the survey, or asked a staff member to do one, as the information has been very helpful in planning for events for this year and moving forward.
It’s great to have so much interest in the Working Group and I’m sure we’ll see some excellent events as the much expanded group starts working together.
